Western Caribbean Cruise on the Norwegian Getaway
We like all types of travel, but we really do enjoy the feeling of utter relaxation cruising provides, and the gift of time to be away and with each other. And what a perfect name for a ship to do just that: Getaway! This was our third Norwegian cruise and it met our expectations of all the things we've come to appreciate about NCL.
Most mornings found us in the Garden Café for breakfast.

One bonus that came with our cruise deposit was the Specialty Dining Package. This meant that we could eat at any of the specialty restaurants at no extra charge, so we tried almost all of them: Cagney's Steak House, Le Bistro (French), La Cucina (Italian), Teppanyaki (Japanese), and Moderno (Brazilian churrascaria).

The SVEDKA/Inniskillin Ice Bar offered both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, along with a chilly atmosphere! Kept at 17 degrees Fahrenheit, the Art Deco-styled lounge features South Florida-inspired elements such as South Beach's iconic Ocean Drive skyline, palm trees etched into its icy walls, and a life-size alligator throne made entirely of ice.

The entire bar, seating and glasses are also made out of ice.

We've always thought the entertainment on board NCL has been excellent. We saw performances of "Legally Blonde, the Musical", "Illusionarium", which was a magic and dinner show, and "Burn the Floor", which was our favorite.
There are activities constantly going on, depending on one's interests. We watched a few demos and even attended a few "game shows". It was fun to watch some of our fellow cruisers win money and prizes on Jeopardy and Deal or No Deal. Meeting and talking to people from various parts of the United States and countries around the world is part of the enjoyment of a cruise for us. But we could just gaze at that vast ocean view outside our balcony for ages and be content!
