Nha Trang, Vietnam
Situated on the southern coast of Vietnam, Nha Trang is the capital of Khanh Hoa province. Nha Trang is known for its long stretch of beach, its beautiful bay and its sacred and historic landmarks.
Also known as Thap Ba, the Po Nagar Cham Towers are a complex of temples built between the 7th and 12th centuries on a hill overlooking the Cai River. Only four east facing towers remain of the original seven or eight. The Cham, who ruled Vietnam for 10 centuries, were renowned for their skills in sculpture and architecture. The towers were built using bricks with no mortar or adhesive. The Champa empire's influence reached all over Southeast Asia, including Cambodia and Thailand, which is why there is a great deal of similarity between Angkor Wat and the Po Nagar Towers.
