George Town, Grand Cayman
A gorgeous day awaited us as we disembarked in George Town, Grand Cayman on Thanksgiving Day. Grand Cayman is the largest of the three British territories that comprise the Cayman Islands and George Town is the capital city. We spent some time browsing the craft market, where it was fun to talk to local artisans, and then visited a few of the shops.
We bought a small painting from Franklin and jerk spices from Ivy.

We took a bus to the famous Cayman Turtle Farm in the West Bay district, which is home to 7,000 Green Sea Turtles, and took a self-guided tour. Green Sea Turtles are the largest of the hard-shelled sea turtles and the second largest of all turtle species; some weigh more than 500 pounds. We observed the turtle tanks, the breeding pond, and the touch tank, watching these amazing animals gracefully glide through the water. Each year the Turtle Farm releases captive-bred turtles to help replenish the wild population, and female turtles released over two decades ago are now coming back to nest on Cayman’s beaches.

Lunch was at Schooner's Bar & Grill, on their outdoor patio overlooking the Turtle Lagoon. We enjoyed delicious Cayman-style mahi-mahi, along with a Caybrew for Steve, and a banana smoothie for Sandi.
Before returning to the ship, we had a chance to relax at Alan and Judy's lovely condo at the Heritage Club on famous Seven Mile Beach, certainly tempting us for a return visit to lovely Grand Cayman!
